Many of you have heard about legendary warriors in Special Forces. There are movies, video games, and even books about these amazing warriors. Warriors who’s souls are so tough that it would seem impossible to ever break them. These warriors specialize in airborne operations, counter-insurgency, counter terrorism, foreign internal defense, covert ops, direct action, hostage rescue, high value targets (HVT) intelligence operations, mobility operations, and unconventional warfare. Some of these missions you will never hear about but others appear in the news and go down in the history books for everyone to know. For example, Operation Neptune Spear, or as most citizens of the United States know it as the death of Osama Bin Laden. This mission was carried out by DEVGRU or better known as SEAL Team Six. Legendary is a word to describe these special forces warriors, but most of them are quietly known as quiet or silent professionals.

 

Around the World

United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has various components that are made up from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force. In Russia, they have the legendary Spetsnaz meaning special purpose forces or special purpose military units. Britain has the legendary SAS or the Special Air Service. France has GIGN or the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group. What I’m trying to explain here is that countries have different Special Forces. Each Special Forces group has different or very similar purposes and some may work hand in hand with each other. The members of these groups didn’t get here easily, each member had to shed blood, sweat, and tears in order to make it through the selection process. These warriors have to under go tests where they might have been forcefully drowned or thrown out in the wilderness to survive on one piece of bread and food that they obtain from nature. All these warriors have something large in common with each other. They want to give the ultimate sacrifice in order to make the world a better place.
